Middle-Aged Man

White socks, Sunday shoes.

Not in tune with normal fashion cues.  

Shirt in, pants high.

Comb over cuz his hair’s gone bye.

Life’s not going exactly as planned.

He woke up one day and he’s a middle aged man. 

Can't see, can't hear.

Hair on his back and out of his ears.

Achy joints, prescription meds.

Some days he can’t get out of bed. 

Looking forward to the doctor exam.

‘Cuz your body falls apart when you're a middle aged man. 

Big date.  At the Golden Corral.

Driving a van doesn't help his morale. 

Going slow. The blinkers on.

Someone just waved ... said he’s number one. 

Don’t honk, he's going fast as he can.
