Lyrics by Cory Smith, music by Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody)
This has to be the finale song, it is so epic. My idea is that we introduce this as a rock opera with Tess playing the role of an overworked mom, and Makena playing the role of her deceased mother's ghost.
[Tess & band]
Is this my real life? Or my kids’ fantasy? Having a bad day, need escape from reality
Struggling to cope, reached the end of my rope you see
[Tess] I'm just a poor mom, I need some sympathy
[band]
because she’s overworked, underpaid, never thanked, not obeyed [Tess]
Listen to this next verse, this is what my kids say, to me, to me
[Tess]
Mama, I just spilled a can
of something on the floor
clean it up and get me more
Mama, dinner's just begun
but now I'm done and throwing the rest away
Mama, ooh-oo-oo-ooh,
gotta go, I need a ride
and can you pick me up in half an hour?
On and on, on and on,
as if my time doesn't matter
[Makena]
Too late, to change the plan
with kids coming out her ears
it might, be like this for years
Back when, she was younger, it seemed to her
that she never treated me like bacon grease
[Tess]Mama, ooh-oo-oo-ooh,
[Makena] Yes, my dear, what is it?
[Tess] I know you’ve passed on
[Tess] I always treated you with great respect
[guitar solo]
[Tess] I hear a little voice from inside of my head
[Makena] “Isn’t true, isn’t true, you kids almost made me whacko”
[band] Questioning her choices, now she’s hearing voices too!
[Makena]It’s your mother,
[Tess] it’s my mother,
[Makena] It’s your mother,
[Tess] it’s my mother,
[band] It’s her mother’s angry ghost, magnifico-oh-oh-oh
[Tess] “I was an angel, that’s what you told me”
[Makena] You’re getting payback for your past revelry
[Makena] You should have known then that your turn would come
[Tess] Is it true? Are you sure? Did I cause you stress?
